Statement on Student Poverty
The Queens University English Department stands in solidarity with students, student groups, and activists working to end student poverty. Our Universitys Missionto offer an exceptional student experience in service to an inclusive, diverse and sustainable societyis fundamentally compromised as student poverty erects barriers to inclusion and success. Furthermore, student poverty is counter to the very Values for which Queens University stands, including Responsibility, Respect, and Wellbeing. The English Department is committed to working with university administrators, student leaders, and government bodies to find actionable, impactful, and sustainable solutions to this urgent problem.
